Life gets busy, and even simple things can slip our minds. You might be enjoying a long conversation with a friend, working in the garden, watching a favourite television programme, or having a well-deserved afternoon nap. So what happens if you don't check in with YourPING?

What happens if you don't check in with YourPING? YourPING reaches out to trusted contacts quickly

What happens if you don't check in with YourPING? YourPING reaches out to trusted contacts quickly

The reassuring answer is that there's no need to panic. If you don't check in with YourPING, the service simply waits for a set period, usually an hour, before letting your nominated trusted contacts know that you haven't responded.

It's designed to be straightforward, practical
and respectful of everyday life!

When you first set up YourPING, you choose the times you'd like to receive your daily check-ins. Depending on your needs, that might be once, twice or three times a day. The idea is to fit around your routine rather than expecting you to change your day to suit a piece of technology.

At your chosen time, YourPING sends a simple SMS text message asking how you are. If everything is fine, you can quickly tap a link or reply Y or N (if you're on an older mobile phone) to complete your check-in. No lengthy questionnaire, complicated process, or need to explain what you've been doing.

But what if you're busy and don't notice the message?

Nothing dramatic happens immediately. YourPING gives you time to respond. After the waiting period, if you still haven't replied, your trusted contacts get an alert that you missed your check-in. That's it. No assumptions, no automatic emergency response and no unnecessary fuss.

Your trusted contacts can then decide whether to give you a ring, send a message or pop round, depending on what makes sense for your circumstances. They might discover you've simply been out enjoying yourself, in which case everyone can carry on with their day.

Of course, if you actively respond to say you're not OK, YourPING can notify your trusted contacts straight away, rather than waiting for the usual period to pass.

The important distinction is that a missed check-in doesn't automatically mean something is wrong. It simply means someone who cares about you can notice and reach out. Remember, YourPING isn't a medical monitoring service or an emergency response system.

Ultimately, if you don't check in with YourPING, the process is deliberately uncomplicated. We wait, we let your trusted contacts know, and they can take it from there.

Because someone should notice if you don't check in ... that's the whole point.

Until next time ...

About Steffi Lewis ...

Steffi Lewis

Based in the charming village of Hanslope in Buckinghamshire, UK, I bring over 30 years of experience in web development. From creating my first website for the Open University in 1993, through being part of the dot com boom, to my explorations in SaaS and AI over the last few years, my journey has been a rich tapestry of web projects, big and small, both funded and bootstrapped.

YourPING was created around a very modern idea: in a world of remote work, automated living and digital communication, it has become surprisingly easy for people to quietly drift off the radar. Bills are paid automatically, shopping arrives online and many people can go days without speaking to someone directly, even while remaining connected to the world through screens and social media.

Designed as a calm and supportive daily check-in system, YourPING helps provide quiet reassurance for people who live alone, work remotely, travel frequently or simply value their independence. Using browser notifications, SMS backup alerts, email escalation and trusted contacts, the platform is intentionally simple to use without complicated gadgets, wearables or intrusive monitoring.

At its heart, YourPING is not about fear or surveillance. It is about modern independent living and the simple comfort of knowing that if something feels unusual, somebody will notice.

My head is in the cloud, my heart belongs to the web, and my soul is filled with such beautiful code 💚
