Charities and community groups do extraordinary work supporting people who might otherwise feel isolated, overlooked, or disconnected. Whether helping older people remain independent, supporting vulnerable adults, looking out for homeless people, or simply bringing neighbours together, much of that work comes down to one thing: making sure people feel noticed ...

How charities and community groups can use our daily check-in service to support vulnerable people and stay connected

How charities and community groups can use our daily check-in service to support vulnerable people and stay connected"

That's where our daily check-ins for charities and community groups can make a difference. They offer a straightforward way to stay in touch between visits, activities, and conversations, without adding complicated technology or unnecessary demands to anyone's day.

Imagine a community group supporting older
residents who live alone!

Volunteers might already make regular telephone calls or arrange social activities, but they can't necessarily speak to everyone every day. A simple daily SMS check-in gives group members another chance to confirm they're OK.

The same approach could help befriending services, independent living organisations, supported housing projects, homelessness services, or groups working with people experiencing loneliness. It could even support volunteers who regularly work alone themselves, giving their organisation another way to notice when someone hasn't followed their usual routine.

With YourPING's group check-ins, an organisation can arrange scheduled messages for the people it supports up to three times a day. Each member responds to confirm whether they're OK, and the group organiser can see who has checked in OK, who has checked in not OK, and who hasn't responded.

If someone doesn't respond, the service allows time for a reply before flagging the missed check-in. The organisation can then decide whether a friendly phone call or other appropriate follow-up is needed.

Remember that a missed check-in doesn't automatically mean something is wrong. Someone might simply be busy, out shopping or enjoying time with friends. The value comes from having a consistent, practical way to notice when somebody hasn't responded.

Just as importantly, daily check-ins for charities and community groups aren't intended to replace personal contact. They complement the conversations, visits and relationships that make community organisations so valuable.

Introducing The YourPING Foundation CIC!

Eligible Charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises can explore the service through a free one-month community pilot, supporting up to ten members with one daily check-in each. It's an opportunity to see how the process works, understand what members think and decide whether it could become a useful part of their existing support.

Every organisation is different, and there's no single approach that suits everyone. Some groups might benefit from a morning check-in, while others might find an afternoon or evening message more appropriate. Once you set it up, it runs automatically, and you get a full report at the end of each check-in sequence.

Ultimately, daily check-ins for charities and community groups are about supporting the people behind the numbers. A simple question, a quick response and the reassurance that someone will notice when a reply doesn't arrive. A little extra connection really can make a difference.

About Steffi Lewis ...

Steffi Lewis

Based in the charming village of Hanslope in Buckinghamshire, UK, I bring over 30 years of experience in web development. From creating my first website for the Open University in 1993, through being part of the dot com boom, to my explorations in SaaS and AI over the last few years, my journey has been a rich tapestry of web projects, big and small, both funded and bootstrapped.

YourPING was created around a very modern idea: in a world of remote work, automated living and digital communication, it has become surprisingly easy for people to quietly drift off the radar. Bills are paid automatically, shopping arrives online and many people can go days without speaking to someone directly, even while remaining connected to the world through screens and social media.

Designed as a calm and supportive daily check-in system, YourPING helps provide quiet reassurance for people who live alone, work remotely, travel frequently or simply value their independence. Using browser notifications, SMS backup alerts, email escalation and trusted contacts, the platform is intentionally simple to use without complicated gadgets, wearables or intrusive monitoring.

At its heart, YourPING is not about fear or surveillance. It is about modern independent living and the simple comfort of knowing that if something feels unusual, somebody will notice.

My head is in the cloud, my heart belongs to the web, and my soul is filled with such beautiful code 💚
