For many charities, community groups and social enterprises, keeping in touch with those they support is an important part of everyday life. But managing weekly telephone call lists, coordinating volunteers and ensuring nobody gets overlooked can be demanding, especially when staff and volunteers are already juggling so many responsibilities ...
YourPING Group Mode helps community organisers spend more time supporting the people who need them.
Even with the best intentions, calls can be delayed, and occasionally someone gets missed. YourPING Group Mode Check-Ins offer a simple way to reduce that pressure, providing an organised daily check-in system that can run once, twice or even three times a day, seven days a week if needed.
YourPING Group Mode uses a many-to-one approach!
Instead of an organiser having to contact every member individually, YourPING sends each person a simple SMS message at their scheduled check-in time. Members can reply with Y for YES if they're OK, or N for NO if they're not. That's all they need to do.
There's no smartphone, app or internet connection required. An ordinary mobile phone capable of sending and receiving text messages is enough. This can be particularly helpful in rural communities, where mobile data coverage may be unreliable.
SMS is often more resilient in areas with weaker connectivity, making it a practical option for people who aren't always online.
Once the check-in process is complete (normally after an hour), the group host receives an SMS summary showing how many members are OK, how many have said they're not OK, and how many haven't responded. That immediate overview makes it easy to see whether anyone might need attention.
The host can then check their email for a detailed report, with members listed under OK, Not OK and No Response headings. Each person's telephone number is a clickable link, so the organiser can simply tap or click to call anyone who needs a follow-up.
Instead of working through a lengthy call list just to find out how everybody is, staff and volunteers can focus their time on the people who may actually need their support.
YourPING isn't designed to replace friendly conversations!
Nor will it replace home visits, or the relationships that make community organisations so valuable. It's there to make the routine checking-in process easier and more consistent, while leaving people free to provide the genuine human contact that technology cannot replace.
And because check-ins can be scheduled up to three times a day, organisations can choose a routine that suits their members and the support they provide.
We're inviting charities, community groups and social enterprises to try YourPING Group Mode with a free one-month pilot. The pilot covers up to ten members, with one daily check-in, and there's absolutely no obligation to continue afterwards.
If your organisation would benefit from a simpler way to keep in touch with members, we'd love to show you how YourPING Group Mode check-ins could work for your community.

Based in the charming village of Hanslope in Buckinghamshire, UK, I'm the Founder & CEO of The YourPING Foundation CIC, bringing over 30 years of experience in web development to a new chapter focused on technology for social good.
From creating my first website for the Open University in 1993, through the dot-com boom and decades of developing web applications, to exploring SaaS and AI, my career has been built around finding practical ways for technology to make life easier.
I created YourPING after recognising a growing challenge in modern life: people can be more digitally connected than ever, yet still go days without meaningful human contact. With automated bills, online shopping, remote working and increasingly independent lifestyles, it has become surprisingly easy for someone to quietly slip off the radar without anybody realising.
YourPING is a simple, non-medical daily wellbeing check-in service designed to provide reassurance without compromising independence. Using straightforward SMS messages, people can confirm they're OK, while trusted contacts are notified if someone needs support or doesn't respond. Our Group Mode also helps charities, community organisations and social enterprises keep in touch with their members, reducing routine administration and giving volunteers more time for genuine human connection. No smartphone, app, wearable device or complicated technology is required.
Through The YourPING Foundation CIC, my ambition is to make everyday reassurance more accessible to individuals, families and communities across the UK. At its heart, YourPING isn't about surveillance, replacing relationships or creating unnecessary worry. It's about using technology responsibly to strengthen human connections, and support independent living for all.
