Supporting people who live independently is one of the most rewarding jobs a charity or community organisation can do, but it also comes with big challenges ...
YourPING Group Mode simplifies community support by connecting individuals and resources, proving that it truly takes a village
Whether it's an independent living charity, community support group, or local volunteer network, no one can be everywhere at once. Staff and volunteers care deeply about those they support, yet checking in with everyone individually can quickly become time-consuming and hard to manage.
That's where YourPING Group Mode comes in!
Designed specifically for organisations that support multiple people, Group Mode allows a coordinator to schedule simple daily wellbeing check-ins for every member of their group. Each person receives an SMS asking them to check in.
They respond to say they're fine (I'm OK) or that they need a little help (I'm not OK). Once the check-in period has finished, the organiser receives a concise text message summary and a detailed email listing the names and phone numbers of those who have checked in, those who may need a follow-up, and those who haven't responded.
The beauty of the system is its simplicity!
There's no complicated technology for group members to learn, and no need for everyone to own the latest smartphone (but it's fine if they do). The aim isn't to replace the human touch, but to help organisations focus their time where it's needed most.
Instead of spending hours contacting everyone individually, volunteers and staff can quickly identify the people who may benefit from a friendly phone call or visit.
The possibilities extend far beyond charities, though. Community support groups, neighbourhood volunteers, housing associations and even a local vicar wanting to keep in touch with elderly or vulnerable members of the community could all benefit from having a straightforward way to know that everyone is safe and well.
YourPING Group Mode offers reassurance without being intrusive and helps ensure that nobody slips through the cracks!
The need for community support remains significant. In such a connected world, more and more people are feeling disconnected. Government research continues to show that around 7% of adults in England report feeling lonely, while strong support networks play an important role in people's wellbeing.
YourPING has always been built around one simple idea: someone should notice if you don't check in. Group Mode takes that same philosophy and extends it to the organisations and volunteers who spend every day looking after others.
When one person is responsible for checking in with many, YourPING doesn't replace compassion; it simply makes it easier to deliver it.
Until next time ...

Based in the charming village of Hanslope in Buckinghamshire, UK, I bring over 30 years of experience in web development. From creating my first website for the Open University in 1993, through being part of the dot com boom, to my explorations in SaaS and AI over the last few years, my journey has been a rich tapestry of web projects, big and small, both funded and bootstrapped.
YourPING was created around a very modern idea: in a world of remote work, automated living and digital communication, it has become surprisingly easy for people to quietly drift off the radar. Bills are paid automatically, shopping arrives online and many people can go days without speaking to someone directly, even while remaining connected to the world through screens and social media.
Designed as a calm and supportive daily check-in system, YourPING helps provide quiet reassurance for people who live alone, work remotely, travel frequently or simply value their independence. Using browser notifications, SMS backup alerts, email escalation and trusted contacts, the platform is intentionally simple to use without complicated gadgets, wearables or intrusive monitoring.
At its heart, YourPING is not about fear or surveillance. It is about modern independent living and the simple comfort of knowing that if something feels unusual, somebody will notice.
My head is in the cloud, my heart belongs to the web, and my soul is filled with such beautiful code 💚
