What is a daily reassurance check in and how does it work?

A daily reassurance check-in is a simple way to let someone know you are OK. At an agreed time each day, you receive a check-in and respond to confirm everything is fine. Most days, that is all that happens. You check in, get on with your day, and the people who care about you have extra reassurance ...

A daily reassurance check in is a brief daily message to confirm safety, wellbeing, and support needs

A daily reassurance check in is a brief daily message to confirm safety, wellbeing, and support needs

The idea behind a daily reassurance check-in isn't complicated, and that's rather the point. Many of us have people in our lives who we think about during the day. It might be a parent living alone, an adult child who has moved away, a friend, neighbour or somebody who simply values their independence.

We don't necessarily need to get in touch several times a day
but knowing they're OK can make a big difference!

YourPING check-ins are primarily sent via SMS, so you don't need the latest smartphone or a special app to use them. They can work just as well on an older mobile phone that can send and receive text messages.

For people who work from home or spend much of their day at a computer, push notifications and email can also serve as additional ways to receive check-ins.

A check-in provides reassurance without requiring somebody to make a phone call every morning or send the inevitable "Are you OK?" message. It creates a small routine which sits quietly in the background of everyday life.

Importantly, a daily reassurance check-in is not monitoring. YourPING doesn't need to track where you are, watch what you're doing or collect information about your daily activities. You remain completely free to go about your life as normal. All we're interested in is whether you've checked in.

It isn't a care service either!

YourPING doesn't replace carers, family members, support workers, or anyone who may already play an important role in someone's life. Instead, it provides another simple way of noticing when somebody might need human contact.

And YourPING isn't a medical service. We don't diagnose conditions, monitor vital signs or decide why somebody hasn't responded. There could be dozens of reasons for a missed check-in, from feeling unwell to simply forgetting because you've become engrossed in something else.

What matters is what happens next. If somebody doesn't respond, a trusted contact can be alerted so that a real person knows it might be worth checking that everything is OK.

For the person checking in, it can provide reassurance that somebody will notice if their normal routine changes. For family and friends, it can provide reassurance without making them feel as though they're constantly checking up on someone.

That's really all a daily reassurance check-in needs to be: a small moment in the day that says to the world, "Yes, I'm OK", then get on with whatever it was you were doing.

And on the day you don't say it, you can be sure someone will notice.

Until next time ...

About Steffi Lewis ...

Steffi Lewis

Based in the charming village of Hanslope in Buckinghamshire, UK, I bring over 30 years of experience in web development. From creating my first website for the Open University in 1993, through being part of the dot com boom, to my explorations in SaaS and AI over the last few years, my journey has been a rich tapestry of web projects, big and small, both funded and bootstrapped.

YourPING was created around a very modern idea: in a world of remote work, automated living and digital communication, it has become surprisingly easy for people to quietly drift off the radar. Bills are paid automatically, shopping arrives online and many people can go days without speaking to someone directly, even while remaining connected to the world through screens and social media.

Designed as a calm and supportive daily check-in system, YourPING helps provide quiet reassurance for people who live alone, work remotely, travel frequently or simply value their independence. Using browser notifications, SMS backup alerts, email escalation and trusted contacts, the platform is intentionally simple to use without complicated gadgets, wearables or intrusive monitoring.

At its heart, YourPING is not about fear or surveillance. It is about modern independent living and the simple comfort of knowing that if something feels unusual, somebody will notice.

My head is in the cloud, my heart belongs to the web, and my soul is filled with such beautiful code 💚
